Two favourite foods in one recipe?! Say it ain’t so!

Pizza Burger

Ingredients
- 1 onion thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup oat bran
- 1-1/2 tsp oregano
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp fresh chives chopped
- 1/4 cup pepperoni chopped
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp hot sauce to taste
- 1/2 tsp each salt and pepper
- 4 slices bacond cooked and crumbled
- 1 lb lean ground beef chicke and turkey also work well
- 4 slices Asiago cheese
- 4 crusty rolls or hamburger buns
- 4-6 tbsp pizza sauce
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Add sliced onion and stir well. Cook until l soft and beginning to brow, about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally. Reduce heat if browning too fast. Remove from heat and set aside. Meanwhile,i n a large bowl beat egg with oat bran, oregano, tomato paste and chives. Add pepperoni, hot sauce, salt and pepper and bacon. Stir well to combine. Add ground beef and mix lightly with a fork until just combined. Don’t over mix or meat will get tough. Divide meat into 8 equal portions and shape into patties. Add 1 slice of Asiago cheese to each of 4 patties. Place the other patties on top for a total of 4 burgers. Press edges well to seal, or cheese will ooze out when cooking. Panfry or grill as desired. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until patties are turning from pick to brown on all edges, flip and continue to cook until internal temperature is 160oFor 71oC. Place on buns (toasted if you prefer). Top burgers with sautéed onions and pizza sauce. Your favourite pizza toppings can also be added to take this one over the top. Sautéed onions, Olives, peppers, etc.
