Crème Brûlée French Toast

Ingredients
- 1 loaf thick sliced bread
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 litre egg nog
- 1 tbsp Vanilla extract
Instructions
- Melt syrup, sugar and butter in medium sauce pan, cool slightly. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 beaten egg, egg nog and vanilla. Dip thick slices of bread first in syrup mixture and second in egg nog mixture. Brown in a frying pan on medium heat with butter. Cook 2 minutes per side or until golden brown. Sprinkle both sides with additional brown sugar for the last 30 seconds of cooking to the “crème brûlée” style crunch.
